Wego is a global supplier of tert-Butyl Acetate (TBAc)
Wego Chemical Group is a leading global supplier and distributor of low VOC solvents such as tert-Butyl Acetate. It can be found under CAS # 540-88-5 or EINECS # 208-760-7 with the molecluar formula C6H12O2. It can also be referred to by its commonly used acronym TBAc, or other synonyms like Acetic Acid tert-Butyl Ester, t-Butyl Acetate, tertiary-Butyl Acetate.
TBAc is produced for commercial and industrial use via synthesis of Acetic Acid and Isobutylene. It is one of four Butyl Acetate isomers, the others being: n-Butyl Acetate, Isobutyl Acetate, and s-Butyl Acetate. Its primary use is as a solvent. Solvents are compounds that dissolve chemically different compounds, and can be solids, liquids, or gases, though solvents are typically in liquid form. Naturally, TBAc is used in liquid form, where it is a flammable substance. Its appearance is colorless, and it emanates a camphor-like, fruity odor. It is soluble in water (0.8 wt% at 22°C) and miscible in ether and ethanol.
TBAc's primary use as a solvent or a thinner make it applicable across a variety of industries. It is used in the manufacturing of household and industrial cleaners, inks and digital inks, and adhesives and sealants to name a few. It is also used in the making of coatings products—more specifically, in polyurethane and surface coatings, including in lacquers and enamels—as well as in plastics, resins, and rubber—most notably in resins. TBAc can also be used as an organic intermediate in the synthesis of other chemical compounds.
