Soy Protein Isolate is a highly refined form of soy protein with a minimum protein content of 90% on a moisture-free basis. It is made from defatted soy flour, to which most of its non-protein components, fats and carbohydrates are removed. Because of this, it tastes neutral and causes less gas due to bacterial flatulence.

Textured Soy Protein is made by taking soy flour and removing the fat using solvents. The result is a high-protein, low-fat product, then it is extruded into various shapes such as nuggets and chunks.
